New Airports
One year after the new Pafos International Airport was crowned with complete success, the passengers seem very satisfied and excited by the new facilities and by the high level of services offered at the new Pafos International Airport.
The successful opening of the new Pafos International Airport, introduced the launching of a new era for the airports of Cyprus. Larnaka's International Airport first operational trial was completed successfully on Tuesday 15 September, 2009. This trial, in which new systems and procedures were assessed, saw hundreds of passengers giving staff the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new technology in real life situations and tested the coordination between the many different services and departments. A further six trials will follow up until the official inauguration ceremony in which a total of 3.500 people are expected to take part.
The new terminal design is a 'finger' style with 16 air bridges (resembling a medieval aqueduct) leading into a central concourse. There will be three levels with the third level used for departures and the second level for arrivals. Outside of the terminal there are plans for a 1,750-space car park for private cars, rental cars, taxis, buses and staff car parking.
